Jean Kovacs

HBS Angels - Northern California

Jean has over 25 years of experience directing technology companies and a track record of using her strategic business skills and background to deliver exceptional results with growing enterprises.

Currently, Jean is co-president of the Northern California Chapter of HBS Angels, which provides a forum for Harvard alumni to connect with, learn about and invest in quality early-stage companies. She has served as interim CEO at two private companies during the past 12 months and has been working closely with a venture capital fund.

Although focused on the investment side these days, Jean has spent most of her career in managing and growing businesses. Most recently, she was CEO and co-founder of Comergent Technologies, a fast-growing leader in e-business. Comergent became a world-class organization, committed to providing real-world business solutions to global enterprises.  In late 2006, Comergent was purchased by Sterling Commerce (a division of AT&T).

Prior to Comergent, Jean co-founded Qualix Group, a developer of reliability software in distributed computing environments. Qualix went public in 1997. She was Director of Marketing at Frame Technology (IPO 1992) and also held positions in sales, marketing, and support at Sun Microsystems (IPO 1986), and Compugraphic Corporation.
